Lowertown Clean Up Crew returns with increased support
Apr 10, 2018
The SPIRE Credit Union led Lowertown Clean Up Crew returns for its second year with the support of Lowertown businesses and residents.
The volunteer crew will meet for six Sundays in Mears Park this season- May 6, June 3, July 8, August 5, September 9, and October 7 from 1:00-3:00pm. Residents, businesses and those who enjoy the Lowertown neighborhood are encouraged to join SPIRE staff in cleaning up the area to help keep the neighborhood a beautiful and attractive destination for visitors and residents.
"I love living in Lowertown,” states Rachel, a Clean Up Crew volunteer, “I also love Mears Park, but I hate the litter. That's why I joined the Clean Up Crew. I'm a resident - it's my responsibility to keep it clean."
SPIRE Business Development Manager Rachael Reiling coordinates the Clean Up Crew. “After our St. Paul branch moved to Cray Plaza, we discovered how passionate and proud businesses and residents are of the Lowertown neighborhood,” reflects Rachael, “We asked how we can help contribute and the Clean Up Crew began. It’s been an excellent way for SPIRE to give back to the community and for the other businesses and residents to connect.”
This year, after each clean up event, volunteers are encouraged to stop by Lowertown’s Black Dog Café for refreshments and conversation. For details and to register, please visit www.myspire.com/cleanupcrew.
