May's Lowertown Clean Up Crew the largest yet
May 07, 2018
The first Lowertown Clean Up Crew of the 2018 season got to work last Sunday and set new record numbers for the volunteer crew.
On Sunday, a record 23 volunteers joined together to clean up trash that had accumulated over the winter months. With a combined 34.5 hours of service, the crew collected 182 pounds of trash from the park and surrounding areas. Afterwards, the volunteers were treated to refreshments by Black Dog Cafe.
The Lowertown Clean Up Crew is organized by SPIRE Credit Union and is made up of volunteers from Lowertown businesses, neighbors, and other community members. By working together to collect trash, they help keep Mears Park and the Lowertown neighborhood a beautiful and clean urban destination.
"We are so grateful to everyone who came out for the May Clean Up Crew event," stated Rachael Reiling, SPIRE Director of Business Development, "the impact of the time and efforts these volunteers put in goes far beyond the pounds of trash we collected."
We wish to thank each of the volunteers for donating their time to the May Lowertown Clean Up Crew. If you and your friends, family, club, or organization would like to participate for our next crew event on Sunday, June 3, please register at www.myspire.com/cleanupcrew.
A special thank you to Black Dog Cafe for partnering with SPIRE on the Lowertown Clean Up Crew events.
