SPIRE Credit Union announced today that it has surpassed one million dollars in charitable donations made via the Visa Treasures program.
Launched in 2019, the Visa Treasures program donates .25 percent of every SPIRE Visa® Credit card transaction to one of the credit union's community causes. This month, nearly three years to the day of the program's launch, the one million dollar milestone was surpassed.
"This milestone shows the true power of what we can do together," said Dan Stoltz, SPIRE President/CEO. "I am so thankful that our members embraced this program and allowed us to reach this level of giving so quickly."
Donations have been made to hundreds of Minnesota non-profits, benefiting causes ranging from animal welfare to food insecurity to child wellness.
"Our core value at SPIRE is to improve lives," said Stephanie Johnson, Community Relations Director. "The Treasures Program is a vital part of that, allowing us to give back to the incredible organizations that work every day to strengthen our communities."
To celebrate the occasion, each SPIRE staff member received a candy bar wrapped in a "One Million Dollar Bill." Ten of those bills were "Golden Tickets" that allowed the recipient staff member to designate a $100 donation from SPIRE to the charity of their choice.
